Evans Fires 1-0 Shutout in Wrecks Win
Monday, August 20th , 2001
The Renton Wrecks did little to support starter Keith Evans against the Tri-City Dust Devils, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Dust Devils, striking out 12 and surrendering 6 hits. The performance from Evans allowed Renton to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Keith, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Evans told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
Evans has pitched 98.1 innings and molded a 3.20 ERA with no saves. He has surrendered 87 hits while registering 74 strikeouts on his way to a 9-4 record for the Wrecks this year.
