Bellingham Stymied by Vega
Friday, September 10th , 1999
Magic was in the air and on the mound at Baby Bears Park, as Obed Vega held the Bellingham Mariners spellbound in his 3-0 shutout victory. The Kennewick Bear Cubs pitcher went the distance, rang up 4 strikeouts, walked 1, and held the Mariners to 3 hits.
"He just had us in his thrall," Bellingham manager said. "We couldn't put anything together against him."
Vega has a 11-3 season record so far. In 17 starts, he has fanned 94 batters in 132 innings with a 2.45 ERA.
