Merida Devastated by Playoff Elimination Tuesday, January 18th , 2000 They remained in the thick of things for most of the 1999 season, but the hopes of a playoff berth are now over for the Merida Olas. Today, the team was mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the playoff. The Olas have missed the playoffs 29 times in their 30 years as a South of the Border franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 21st in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1978. Merida last won the Championship Series in 1978. |
