Palmeras, Morris Buzz Worms, 1-0
Monday, January 4th , 1999
Matt Morris of the Castries Palmeras was on top of his game.

The 24-year-old tantalized the Cabo San Lucas Worms with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 1-0.

"He had the changeup working," Cabo San Lucas manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Castries hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 2 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.

Morris told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

Morris has made 10 starts this season, posting 4 wins and 1 loss. Opposing clubs are batting .241 against him and he has 53 strikeouts in 69.2 innings with a 2.84 ERA.
