Kentucky Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
Lions Stadium was host to some action-packed drama.

Maryland got a big-time effort from pitcher Nathan Stone, but it wasn't enough to keep the Kentucky Lions from winning the game, 6-4. Stone threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Joe Merickel, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings.

Brent Gatz was the walk-off hero for Kentucky. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Lions pinch hitter hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Gatz.

Now 2-8, the Bridegrooms have gotten off to a poor start.
