Blue Pirates Earn Late Win
|
The Ontario Blue Pirates overcame a pretty good performance by New Jersey designated hitter Steven Leduc, beating the Athletics, 3-2, at Johnson & Johnson Field. Leduc went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ontario is now 35-38, New Jersey 34-39.
Joe Peterson, who is a two-time Best Defender Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Peterson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put Ontario up, 3-2.
"We were in it," said New Jersey manager Mike Trigwell. "We just didn't score enough runs."
