Yellowhammers Lose, 5-3, at Outlaw Park
|
Texas pitcher Jon Gomez did his part in helping his team beat the Alabama Yellowhammers, 5-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The win went to Walt Powell in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Kasey Adams took the loss. Vinny Barron got credit for the save for Texas. It was his 3rd of the year.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from designated hitter Lee Choate. For the game, Choate was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Texas a 5-3 lead.
"Jon gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Texas skipper Andrew Cole.
The second-place Outlaws have won 6 straight.
