Athletics Victorious at New Mexico, 6-1
|
The New Mexico Danger had to reckon with New Jersey Athletics hurler Jack Brand. Brand, who is tied for 10th in the PL in quality starts with 11, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-1 Athletics triumph. In 6 innings, Brand surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. The win makes New Jersey 59-75.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Josh Bradshaw? The New Jersey right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics on top, 2-0. For the game, Bradshaw had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Jack throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said New Jersey manager Mike Trigwell.
