Mallards Victors, 6-5, at New Mexico
|
The Minnesota Mallards weathered an outstanding game by New Mexico left fielder Josh Perry to topple the Danger, 6-5. Perry went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Minnesota pitcher Bob MacEwen got the win, upping his record to 4-2. Phil Adams got the loss. Jeremy McKenna was credited with the save, his 6th in 12 tries.
Minnesota used a clutch at-bat from Bobby Avalos to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Mallards ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Minnesota manager Jason Dettbarn.
The Mallards saw their record improve to 84-75.
