Bonilla Impresses in California Loss
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Tony Bonilla, the California Mallards suffered a 9-5 loss to the Indiana Vipers. Bonilla slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Indiana now owns a record of 74-82.
The Vipers got a big at-bat from first baseman Jorge Cortéz. For the game, Cortéz was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Indiana a 7-5 lead.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Cortéz.
