SOUA Headline News: The Offseason Begins

It's a bittersweet time for baseball fans -- the joy of having watched the final SOUA championship game being played is balanced by the realization that it's all over for another season. So begins the offseason, where the winners bask in the glow of their success while the losers take stock of their performance and begin to lay plans for next year. Whether or not those plans will bear fruit is something that only time will tell.

Chattanooga Crowned Champions
Monday, October 9th , 1961
The Chattanooga Lookouts ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Atlanta Crackers 10-6 to win the Round 1.
Chattanooga won the series 4-2, capturing the title for the 1st time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Chattanooga manager Justin Adams. "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 89-64 and claimed second place in the Southern Association.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and first baseman Richard Haines said the Lookouts have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
