Braves Drop Mets, 4-3
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Atlanta Braves starter Mario Soto pitched a strong game against the New York Mets at Turner Field, leading the Braves to victory, 4-3. Reliever Eury De La Rosa picked up the win. His record improves to 3-4. Frank Viola, who is tied for 6th in the NL in holds with 9, took the loss. Picking up the save was Akinori Otsuka. He's now 19 for 20 in save chances.
Pat Duncan, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in doubles with 29, chipped in a 2-run home run for Atlanta in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I was a little disappointed," said New York manager Phil Barrett. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Braves sport a record of 30-55.
