Pirates Earn 2-1 Win Versus Phillies
|
The Pirates faced a stiff challenge from Philadelphia pitcher John Healy, but persevered to claim a win at Three Rivers Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Healy went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The last-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 35-53.
Pittsburgh took a 2-1 lead on Adam Eaton's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Eaton hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Fred Holdsworth visibly frustrated.
"We scored one run," said Philadelphia manager Mike Kemmerer. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."
