Philadelphia Downs Cincinnati, 6-3
|
Philadelphia and Cincinnati took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Philadelphia Phillies dealt the Cincinnati Reds a 6-3 loss at Great American Ball Park. Bryson Stott was the star on offense. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2. Francisco Rodriguez earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-0.
Hal Irelan broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Phillies in front, 4-3. For the game, Irelan drove in one run.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Cincinnati manager Mike Loveridge. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
Philadelphia, now 40-49, holds down 4th place in the National League East.
