White Sox Take Down Orioles, 5-3
|
The Chicago White Sox took Baltimore pitcher Scott Olsen's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Memorial Stadium. The final score had Chicago getting past the Orioles, 5-3. Olsen went 6 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. Chicago reliever Carl Bouldin was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Masanori Murakami took the loss. At 67-46, the White Sox find themselves in third place in the American League Central.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Josh Wilson came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Baltimore pitcher Joe Stanka, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 5-3.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said White Sox manager Harris Weinblatt.
