Royals Fall, 5-1, to Cortazzo, Cardinals
|
The first-place St. Louis Cardinals picked up another win.
Jess Cortazzo made an impact in the 5-1 St. Louis win over Kansas City. Cortazzo, who finished 5th in the NL in doubles with 43 in 2095, went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Tom Butters finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Cortazzo had a key at-bat for St. Louis early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and gave St. Louis an early 2-0 lead.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Cortazzo. "Just do my job."
The Cardinals have an impressive 31-17 record.
