EL Best Mound Performer Named

The spotlight today is on Marcus Patton of the Reading Fightin Phils. He was named the top pitcher in the Eastern League and will be honored with the 2051 Outstanding Pitcher Award.

Patton compiled an impressive 13-8 won-lost mark to capture this year's honor. In 178 innings of work and 28 starts, the Fightin Phils star struck out 194, while giving up 175 hits and 62 walks. He limited opposing batters to a .254 average.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 12. Juan Martin of the Richmond Flying Squirrels finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Ben Sommerville of the Richmond Flying Squirrels finished third.

Stout Grabs EL Reliever of the Year

Jonathan Stout was a calming influence out of the Trenton Thunder bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 26-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Eastern League Reliever of the Year for 2051.

The Manville, New Jersey native won the award with 22 saves in 37 relief appearances, 42 strikeouts in 45 innings and a record of 2-1 to go with his 2.00 ERA.

He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 12. Mike Riddle of the Reading Fightin Phils finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jose Pereyra of the Richmond Flying Squirrels finished third with 4 first place votes.
