The Nashville Bluebirds knocked off the Des Moines Kernels, 8-4, at Les Paul Field. David López was a big reason Nashville won. The catcher was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Jim Ploughman picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 7-4. The Bluebirds, at 101-48, have a comfortable 24-game lead in their division.

López contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Nashville in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-0, López took a slider from Mike Young and stroked the home run to left. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Bluebirds to leap in front, 3-2.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," López told the Nashville Bulletin.
