|
The Hawaii Tropics topped the Bikini Krill, 4-3, in Frick League action at ‘Iolani Palace. The standout performance belonged to Hawaii pitcher and Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, native Gerardo Rea. Rea yielded 1 run over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 6-7. Picking up his 7th save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Troy Reynolds.
Julián Rivera dealt the Krill a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Hawaii leading 2-1, Rivera, the 17th overall pick in the 2057 draft, hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Tropics manager Rich Kerr.
The win puts the Tropics at 71-87, while the Krill drop to 87-71.
