Pioneers Lose to Spuds, 9-6
|
Dan Raymond impressed in the 9-6 Boise win over Calgary. Raymond went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 3. Boise reliever Brad Peckford got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Mitch Bond was tagged with the loss. Mario Santos nailed down his 23rd save.
The Spuds got a big at-bat from third baseman Mahine Karetu. For the game, Karetu was 1-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 37th double of the season gave Boise a 6-5 lead.
"Dan is still learning," said Spuds manager Mario Contreras. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Spuds, at 82-79, sit in 6th place in the Johnson League Frontier Division.
