Pioneers Claw Out 2-1 Win
|
The Calgary Pioneers topped the New Orleans Crawdads, 2-1, in Johnson League action at The Commanders Palace. The standout performance belonged to Calgary pitcher and Yokohama, Japan, native Shinsui Hasegawa. Edward Harrison finished to wrap up his 15th save. Calgary is now 56-40, while New Orleans is 55-41.
Calgary used a well-timed hit by Ollie Long to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Pioneers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We're a talented bunch when we're playing well," said Long. "I think we showed that here."
