Long Beach Drops Yellow Springs, 4-1

The Yellow Springs Nine and Long Beach Surfers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Takehide Gertrudes pitched well, but his team, the Yellow Springs Nine, still dropped a 4-1 decision to the Long Beach Surfers at Utopia Field. Long Beach reliever Siu-chung Zhan picked up the win, while Takehide Gertrudes took the loss for Yellow Springs. Owen McKelvey collected his 4th save.
Long Beach used the timely hitting of Cinema Jones to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Surfers ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Jones told the Long Beach Times.
Long Beach now sits at 52-46, while Yellow Springs falls to 40-58.
