Surfers Pop Mad Popes, 10-2
|
The Long Beach Surfers bested the Sacramento Mad Popes, 10-2, at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. Greg Clover was one of the standouts. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Long Beach reliever Hughie Dunstone picked up the win, upping his record to 8-1. Boulos Naim took the loss. The loss makes Sacramento 74-44.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alejandro Córdova? The Long Beach third baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Surfers on top, 3-0. For the game, Córdova had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Mike Ellis said.
