Mahdi goes 3-for-3, Leads Blazers to Win
|
The Montreal Blazers defeated the Rockville Pikemen, 5-2, at Owen's Ordinary today. Leading the charge for Montreal was shortstop Qutuz Mahdi. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. With the win, Montreal upped its record to 23-11.
Montreal got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Aarnoud Budding. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blazers ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Montreal manager Ernesto Zamora. "Our pregame was pretty good."
