The Mexico City Aztecs topped the Phoenix Talons, 4-2, in Johnson League action at Denny's Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented By Subaru. The standout performance belonged to Mexico City pitcher and Jérez, Mexico, native Carlos Olivas. The win elevated the Aztecs to 68-65.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Fernando Moreno hit a 3-1 fastball from Rob Scott for a 2-run single. It put Mexico City in front, 4-2.
Olivas called the win "a team effort."
