Getting an impressive start from Ralph Boyd, Long Beach beat Portland by the score of 3-2. Owen McKelvey earned save number 12 this season. The Surfers saw their record improve to 73-61.

Fernando Castillo tagged a home run off Steffan Gimsing in the top of the third. His 2-run blast put the Surfers on top, 3-1. In all, Castillo had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
