Week's Premier Performer Honored by FL Monday, September 23rd , 2058 In the twilight of his career, 37-year-old Manobu Shimizu of Madison recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Frick League Player of the Week Award. "I've been playing since I was a kid," Shimizu told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success." Shimizu outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 11 hits in 25 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs to stake his claim to the award. For the season Shimizu is currently batting .340 with 42 home runs and 106 RBIs. In 139 games he has reached base at a .404 rate and scored 107 runs to date. |
