Recovery Slow for Jackrabbits Gonzalo Martínez Thursday, November 7th , 2058 "It's worse than we thought." That was the news from the Jackrabbits clubhouse today as it was learned that designated hitter Gonzalo Martínez will be out for an added 3-4 months as a result of a recent injury. His treatment for a fractured fibula will have to be extended. Initially it didn't seem the injury was a major concern, but the Edmonton designated hitter told team trainers of some discomfort yesterday morning, and upon examination it was determined to be a more serious injury. "We'd rather take this thing slowly and make sure Gonzalo gets back onto the field healthy," said the team's head trainer. Gonzalo Martínez is expected to undergo surgery in Edmonton(Alberta) tomorrow. In 2719 games, Martínez is a lifetime .284 hitter. He has knocked in 1606 runs, scored 1513 times, hit 511 home runs, walked 982 times and has an on-base percentage of .351. |
