Rangers Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Bryant
|
Cleveland and Texas duked it out and the Guardians came out victorious.
The Texas Rangers got a superb performance from left fielder Chris Bryant, but the Cleveland Guardians still won the game, 10-8. Bryant was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Cleveland reliever Jim Rouse picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Pete Campbell absorbed the loss.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Steve Austin, the Cleveland center fielder. Austin had a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 9-8. For the game, Austin had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Austin. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
The loss drops the Rangers to 1-7.
