Reds Bridle Giants, 2-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cincinnati Reds and the San Francisco Giants, pitcher Alfredo Ramos was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cincinnati right-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 Reds win. Cincinnati reliever Alfredo Ramos got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Héctor Ángel was tagged with the loss. The Giants, now 5-9 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
Cincinnati designated hitter Mike Clarke contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 15th hit of the season and put the Reds ahead, 2-0.
"We'll savor this win," Clarke told the Cincinnati Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
