Seattle-Los Angeles Brawl, Clement and Cooper Suspended
Tuesday, September 17th , 2052
Yesterday at Dodger Stadium Joe Clement and Jake Cooper got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Clement will have to sit out 4 while Cooper would be given a 9-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Looking at his stats this year, Clement has compiled a .274 batting average, while hitting 17 home runs and driving in 75 runs. He has played in 146 games and scored 75 runs.
To date he has nailed down 0 saves for his club. In 32 relief appearances, Cooper has 60 strikeouts in 64.1 innings with a 4.48 ERA and a 2-0 mark.
