Gryphons Hargrove Booms 3 HRs Sunday, April 24th , 2050 It was a day for the record books for Portland HS Gryphons left fielder Ian Hargrove, who walloped three out of Stags Ballpark against the Stags. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Stags from taking the 17-13 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Portland HS skipper Jorge Navarro joked after the loss. Hargrove still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-5 for the day, batting in 7 runs and scoring 3 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Hargrove said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Ian Hargrove hit a two-run home run off Bert Howard in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jeff Anderson in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Bruno Deveron in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and struck out in the 9th. For the season Hargrove is currently batting .383 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs. In 29 games he has reached base at a .463 rate and scored 28 runs to date. |
