Edwards Batters St. Louis Big Time
Wednesday, June 4th , 2042
Clint Edwards told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Edwards of the Colorado Rockies did against the St. Louis Cardinals. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, but his club still suffered a defeat, 8-7.
"Not much I can say," offered Edwards in the postgame press conference. "I got a bunch of hits, but it would have been much better to get a win. Can I trade 5 hits for the win?"
Clint Edwards singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Edwards has hit at a .322 clip with 23 RBIs, 2 home runs and 25 runs scored. He has played in 51 games.

Carlson Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
Wednesday, June 4th , 2042
It was a high-five day for Tim Carlson, at least for a while.
The Cincinnati shortstop got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the New York Mets, but they were in short supply at the end, as New York won the game, 3-2. Carlson finished with an impressive 5-for-5 line, but the Reds couldn't hold off the Mets.
"Tim was hitting everything," said Reds manager Mike Thurmond. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."
Tim Carlson singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
So far this season, Carlson has recorded a .245 batting average with 24 hits, 3 home runs, 9 RBIs, 9 runs scored and a .260 OBP.

Utt Slugs 600th Home Run
Monday, June 2nd , 2042
Cincinnati's outstanding third baseman Skyler Utt joined the 600 home run club today at Great American Ball Park with a booming blast in the Reds win over the Mets. They topped New York 8-1.
On his milestone day Utt had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.
Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way."
His all-time numbers show Utt has compiled a .222 batting average and collected 1770 hits, 601 home runs and 1418 RBIs.
