Dan Heisler Takes MVP Trophy
Wednesday, October 21st , 2026
At the age of 25, Dan Heisler of the Chunichi (Ni-Gun) Dragons could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2026 was good enough to win the catcher the Western League Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .376 batting average this year, as well as a .472 on-base percentage. He played 112 games and racked up 160 hits, 47 doubles, 1 triple, 34 home runs, 124 RBIs and 108 runs scored.
He received 12 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Adrian Hernandez of the Orix (Ni-Gun) Buffaloes finished second in voting, while Frank Herrera of the Fukuoka SoftBank (Ni-Gun) Hawks finished third.
