The Boston Red Sox got a sterling performance from pitcher Jabber Durrani, but the New York Yankees still prevailed, 3-2. Durrani threw 8.0 innings allowing 2 runs. New York's record now stands at 55-53, placing them second in the American League East Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Zach Gilcrease? The 27-year old left fielder Gilcrease stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
Boston manager Tony Pena Jr. said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
