The New York Yankees could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Juan Fresquez into a win. Instead, the Los Angeles Angels prevailed, 5-3, in 10 innings. Fresquez threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Chris Norman snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.2 innings. He's now 7-3 on the season. Vince Baker notched his 38th save in 46 chances.

Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Juan Trujillo to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Angels on top, 5-2. For the game, Trujillo had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Trujillo told the Los Angeles Daily News.

The Angels sit in first place in the American League West Division with a record of 89-59.
