Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Philadelphia Phillies take on the Atlanta Braves.

Philadelphia beat Atlanta on the strength of starting pitcher Robbie Higginbotham's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Higginbotham, now 12-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.

Making an impact for Philadelphia was third baseman Mat Thresher. He drilled a run-scoring double off Kevin McFall in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Thresher was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.

"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Thresher said. "And the same is true when you lose."

The win puts Philadelphia at 83-71 this season.
