Houston Sent Home with 2-1 Loss
|
The Houston Astros got a superb performance from pitcher Nate Bethea. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oakland. The Athletics won the game, 2-1. Bethea threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Bobby Alberta got the win, improving to 3-7. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Oakland has a record of 69-87, placing them last in the American League West Division.
The win was a team effort for Oakland. Second Baseman Jeff Bowen was among the key contributors. In the top of the fourth, he put his team in front, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Tough win," said Bowen. "We had to earn it."
