New York Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
With center fielder Randy Bunker leading the charge, the New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals, 7-4, at Citi Field. Bunker, who is tied for 6th in the NL in stolen bases with 33, was 3 for 6 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. New York reliever Jerry Harris picked up the win to move to 8-6. Eric Mallandaine suffered the loss. The Mets, at 74-87, sit in third place in the National League East Division.
The Mets got a clutch hit from center fielder Randy Bunker. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a 3-run home run to win the game for the Mets.
"The harder you work," said Bunker, "the luckier you get."
