Braves Topple Padres, 9-4, as Couch Shines
With third baseman Sean Couch leading the charge, the Atlanta Braves defeated the San Diego Padres, 9-4, at SunTrust Park. Couch, who finished 2nd in the NL in hits with 186 last year, went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. The winning pitcher was Andy Reed. He tossed 89 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits. San Diego drops to 10-9.

Couch contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Atlanta in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Couch took a fastball from Juan Rivera and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Braves to leap in front, 4-1.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Couch. "And not try to do too much."
