Orioles Victorious at Houston, 5-1
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a marvelous performance from pitcher Zach Eflin. The right-hander kept the Houston offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Baltimore victory at Minute Maid Park. Eflin yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 8-2. Baltimore occupies second place in the American League East Division at 42-35.
The Orioles got a big at-bat from first baseman Samuel Basallo. For the game, Basallo was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Baltimore skipper Juan Apodaca.
