Cubs Fall, 6-3, to Washington
|
Chicago right fielder Seiya Suzuki had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Suzuki was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, even as Washington beat the Cubs, 6-3. Jake Irvin earned the win for Washington. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 6-16. At 55-99, Washington is in last place in the National League East Division.
Washington relied on the hitting of Dylan Crews to pick up the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Nationals on top, 4-3. For the game, Crews had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Craig Counsell.
