Athletics Pick Up 3-1 Win Against New York
|
Sixto Sanchez was masterful in helping the Sacramento Athletics take down the New York Yankees, 3-1. Picking up his 24th save was 33-year old right-handed pitcher Trevor Gott. Sacramento is now 57-97, New York 88-66.
Tristan Gray had a big 3-run home run for the Athletics in the bottom of the second inning. With Sacramento trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Nestor Cortes, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in wins with 18, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 3-1.
"That was a really good outing by Sixto," said Sacramento manager Mark Kotsay.
