|
The Cincinnati Reds locked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the New York Mets, 6-5. On the mound for Cincinnati was right-hander Hunter Greene. He played a major role in the triumph. Cincinnati pitcher Fernando Cruz got the win. He's now 1-0. Edwin Díaz was tagged with the loss. New York is 3-4 after the loss.
Cincinnati got a knockout punch from Elly De La Cruz. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," De La Cruz said in his postgame press conference.
