Thrilling Win Pushes Miami to Next Round
|
Kenneth Holak said he was extremely nervous before taking the mound in the Wild Card Playoff.
"How could you not be?" Holak said. "There's not much margin for error in a one-game series and that's nerve-wracking."
But the Miami hurler soon settled in, and it showed. His club came out on top, with a 4-1 win at Marlins Park over the Philadelphia Phillies, to advance to the Divisional Series.
"Once you get going, you sort of calm down a bit," Holak explained. "But we're still relieved to get the win, that's for sure."
Holak was named MVP after throwing 5.1 innings, with 6 strikeouts, while allowing 4 hits, 2 walks and 1 run.
Philadelphia manager Chris Calciano said his club was "disappointed, but not devastated" and he promised they would be back contending for another World Series next season.
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Playoff finishes.
