Cubs Snag 9-7 Win
The Chicago Cubs stopped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-7, at PNC Park. The Cubs got a big game from Noelvi Marte, who was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Billy Lawler, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Max Johnson finished to wrap up his 10th save.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Austin Barnes to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cubs on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Marte told the Chicago Herald.

Chicago, now 18-11, has played well in the early going.
