Blue Jays Deal Phillies 5-4 Defeat
|
Philadelphia got a terrific game from third baseman Cameron Gundy. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Toronto, 5-4. Gundy was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Pasqualino Carosi recorded the save, his 12th. The victory gives Toronto a record of 23-13.
Toronto used the clutch hitting of Anthony Rendon to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Blue Jays the lead, 5-4. For the game, Rendon had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Rendon.
