Sea Unicorns Walk It Off for 24th Win of Season
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Norwich Sea Unicorns eventually prevailed.
The Norwich Sea Unicorns had to overcome a fine effort from Vermont pitcher Mark Thompson to grab a narrow 4-3 win at NO. Thompson went 8.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Norwich reliever Juan Lucero picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Jake Eissler absorbed the loss.
The Sea Unicorns were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when designated hitter Miguel Rivera turned a 1-2 fastball from Jake Eissler into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double electrified the NO denizens and sent the Sea Unicorns home with a thrilling 4-3 win.
"Someone different steps up for us each time out," said Brad Bohanon, the Norwich skipper.
The Sea Unicorns, now 24-15, have won 9 in a row.
