A 7-RBI performance from first baseman Alex Binelas, who is tied for 9th in the NYP in total bases with 85, led the Mahoning Valley Scrappers to a win over the Batavia Muckdogs, 22-2. Chad Lorkowski earned the win to go to 3-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of work. Batavia, at 12-45, has lost 4 straight.
With Mahoning Valley leading 14-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Binelas came up to bat against Batavia pitcher Emílio Ramírez. Binelas hit a fastball to left for a bases-clearing double. His 15th double of the season put the Scrappers on top, 17-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Binelas told the Mahoning Valley Chronicle.
