Brooklyn wasted a solid 7.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Kevin Alexander, losing to Norwich, 2-1, at KeySpan Park. Juan Lucero earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 8-0. Aaron Kline collected his 10th save.

It could have been a different outcome for Norwich, had it not been for Ramón Martínez, the 21-year old second baseman . Martínez contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Norwich up, 1-0.

Martínez told a Norwich Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

Norwich, at 43-29, is 4½ games up in the Stedler.
